Validation targets the voluntary llmstxt.org proposal v2: only a missing or duplicate H1 and malformed links or URLs are errors. Everything else is a best-practice notice.
Where to install
- Site-wide: publish it at the root as /llms.txt so it describes the whole site.
- Path-scoped: publish it at a subpath such as /docs/llms.txt to describe just that section of the site.
- The reserved ## Optional section marks secondary links that AI systems can skip when a shorter context is needed. It is explained here but never required.

The emerging llms.txt convention lets you publish a compact, human-readable guide to your most important pages for the AI systems and people that choose to read it. Proposal v2 requires exactly one H1; a summary, details, file-list sections, and links are optional additions.
llms.txt is an emerging, voluntary convention — not a standard crawler-control file like robots.txt. Google Search, AI Overviews, and AI Mode do not use llms.txt for visibility or rankings, and other systems may ignore it entirely. Publishing one grants no access, crawling, indexing, ranking, training, answer inclusion, or citation. It stays useful only as a human-maintained, compact map for the systems or people that choose to read it.

What is llms.txt?

Does llms.txt improve AI rankings?
No. Google Search, AI Overviews, and AI Mode do not use llms.txt for visibility or rankings, and other systems may ignore it. It is a voluntary clarity aid, not a rankings lever — list the pages that explain your site best and keep them current.
What should I include?
Start with the site name, a short blockquote summary, optional notes, then H2 sections containing Markdown links with short descriptions. Prefer canonical pages over tag archives or duplicate filters.

No. Templates, generation, validation, copy, and download all run locally in your browser. Your site notes and links are never uploaded or stored by this tool.
